5 Skincare Tips for Summer

With winter behind us, it’s time to focus on changing-up our skincare routine to be better suited for the hot summer months ahead.

  • Stay Hydrated!
    During the warm summer months, it’s important to drink enough water. It is equally as important to keep your skin hydrated with the proper moisturizer for your skin type. It is recommended to switch to a lighter moisturizer in the summer months versus the one you used during the winter.
  • Always Wear Sunscreen!
    Sun protection should be worn every day, especially during the summer. Sunburns can lead to discomfort and accelerate signs of aging. Tip: Don’t forget to protect the ears and eyebrows are they can burn just as easily as the rest of the face.
  • Keep Your Skin Clean & Refreshed!
    Extra heat often leads to extra sweat and oil production. In order to keep the skin clean and breakout-free, it’s important to cleanse and tone it regularly. Tip: Keep a small misting spray bottle of your favourite toner in your purse. You can use it to freshen-up while on the go – great for little ones as well!
  • Don’t Forget Your Lips!
    Always keep your lips protected by wearing a good lipbalm with SPF and reapplying often. Too much sun exposure could lead to sun blisters and even cold sores. Try to avoid wearing any shimmering lip products directly in sunlight, as the shimmer will attract the sun’s harmful rays.
  • Keep It Simple!
    During warm and humid conditions, it’s best to keep heavy makeup to a minimum as it can become greasy and clog your pores. Instead, try using a BB cream or a tinted moisturizer with lighter coverage.

Good skincare for the face is important, but you shouldn’t neglect the rest of the skin all over your body. Similar to taking care of your face, you should exfoliate the body regularly (2-3x per week), followed by a good moisturizer. Follow these steps and you’ll be swimsuit ready from head to toe!
